Who We Are

The Oakland Invitational Track Meet began as the vision of four illustrious men, Thomas Broome, Robert Cross, George Mason, and Robert Mason. These men not only wanted to support the sports programs within the Oakland Public School District and make a contribution to the welfare of the schools' youth and the community, but also wanted to develop youth athletes from other East Bay communities. The efforts of these men not only resulted in raising money that served to save the sports program for the Oakland Public School District, but also provided a vision for the development of an outstanding invitational track meet that has now become institutionalized as an annual event.
The Oakland Invitational Relays is governed by the Oakland Invitational Relays Committee. The Committee continues the vision for the Relays and aims to exceed the expectations of its founders, supporters, and participants.
